Sextons Cottage / Millicent Parish Hall
Detached property superbly located
An excellent opportunity to extend and refurbish the existing property (subject to planning permission).
A fantastic and rare opportunity to acquire a piece of local history has just entered the property market with the Millicent Parish Hall, formerly known as Sextons Cottage.
The property has been able to retain the charm and dignity of the period and is suitable for residential conversion (subject to planning permission).
This late Victorian former cottage built c.1890 which has over the years been the focal point of a wide range of activities undertaken by the local community.
The cottage / hall was built to house lay people of the church as Hewetson School was close by and The Church of St. Michael and All Angels is adjacent to the hall.
A fine example of late 19th century architecture, the former parish hall is built of stone with a pitched slate roof.
In 1978 planning was granted for a change of use from a residential cottage to its current use as a parish hall.
Internal accommodation occupies approximately 94 sq. m., comprising entrance hall, kitchen area, store room, toilets and large open plan function room / hall.
The potential for this property is endless, given its size and location it's sure to be suited for residential use.
Millicent is a very attractive area located between Clane and Sallins and just 10 km from Naas and the M7 motorway. It is close to Millicent Golf Club and is surrounded by some top quality residential houses, farm land and stud farms. About the Area
Sallins (Irish: Na Solláin) is a suburban town, situated 3.5 km north of the town centre of Naas, from which it is separated by the M7 motorway. Sallins is the anglicised name of Na Solláin which means "The Willows". It is the 10th largest settlement in Kildare and the 91st largest in Ireland. Sallins grew as a result of its position on both the Grand Canal and the Dublin to Cork railway line. The village's railway station serves both Sallins itself and neighbouring Naas, as reflected in its official name of "Sallins and Naas".
The canal near the village is popular for fishing and boating. There are many canal barges moored in Sallins, some of them serving as permanent residences. The Leinster Aqueduct is situated nearby. It is located mid-way along the canal between Sallins and Caragh. This is the point where the Grand Canal crosses the River Liffey. Each year since 2004 during August, the Sallins Community Festival is held which includes some local activities, the most notable being a beauty contest called Queen of the Waterways. Sallins has one primary education level school, Sallins National School
