Congratulations to Charleville Tidy Towns Committee on winning an Endeavour Award.

It’s great to see that all the hard work over the last number of months has paid off and Charleville was rewarded with an amazing 11 additional points, up from 262 to 273 in this year’s Tidy Towns competition and also earning an Endeavour Award for the largest increase in North Cork.

Charleville is a busy market town in North Cork, located close to the border with Limerick. It is situated in a rich agricultural area known as the Golden Vale which spans parts of Counties Cork, Limerick and Tipperary. With a population of over 4,000 people, the town acts as an important service and employment centre for the urban area and surrounding hinterland. Transport links include the N20 Cork/Limerick road and Charleville Railway station. Charleville is also close to the ever popular Ballyhoura Mountains which boasts a variety of nature walks and trails, mountain biking and horse trekking. The town has a strong retail sector and is home to retailers such as Dunnes Stores, Aldi, Lidl, Supervalu, Centra supermarkets as well as lots of family run businesses which are thriving in the town. Charleville is also home to Golden Vale, part of the Kerry Group, which still make cheese products in the town today and is the largest employer in the town.

Charleville is also a hub for sporting activities including Charleville AFC, Charleville GAA, Charleville Pitch & Putt Club and nearby Charleville Golf Club.
